What is an 'Ethics Review' and Why is it Important?

An Ethics Review is a 5 Stage process which evaluates the way in which an organisation, and its key personnel, understand and utilise the dynamic of ethics. Far too often organisations simply cherry-pick ethics terms from what others promote, without considering the need to delve into their own individual cultural identity. For this reason when building a meaningful Ethics ‘in’ Action mentality you must ensure your core values are seen to be unique and well managed.

Competitive Advantage

Ethics should never be considered merely a part of your business, rather, utilising ethics by carrying out an Ethics Review is a major opportunity to concretely distinguish who you are - your products, services and ways of working from competitors by re-defining and re-profiling what you do.

The Compliance Institute's CPD Programme is designed specially to support the compliance professional in developing the skills and competences required to perform their role and is also a requirement to maintain your Compliance Institute designation. Speaker

Prof. Kevin Sludds

Owner of Ethics Consultancy & Training International

Kevin is a professional ethicist with 25 years experience of teaching, consulting and training. He has taught philosophy and ethics at Trinity College Dublin, Institute of Technology Sligo and is an Associate of the Irish Management Institute.

Kevin has devised highly innovative courses for third level institutions, international training companies and delivered highly regarded programmes in Ireland, Africa and India that guarantee ethics is made exciting to apply and the principal means by which an organisation can distinguish itself from competitors.

Understood as 'the' dynamic driver of change, ethics plays a vital role in defining culture, creating a positive working environment and ensuring reputational excellence.

However, for ethical pronouncements to become concrete in behaviour companies must involve themselves in the process of "Inward Examination," that is, an Ethics Review. It is only by understanding from where their core values stem, how they are supported and what the motivational drivers are will "external engagement" (e.g. CSR, Impact Investing/ESG etc.) be seen to be authentic.
