Compliance Institute Annual Conference 2023
Compliance Institute's 2023 Annual Conference was held as a hybrid event at the Aviva Stadium on the 14th November. The theme of this year's conference was 'Empowering Accountability' and we were delighted to be joined by over 300 delegates.
We assembled a fantastic line up of speakers consisting of experts, thought leaders and senior practitioners including: Minister Paschal Donohoe - Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform and President of the Eurogroup, Sharon Donnery, Deputy Governor, Financial Regulation, Central Bank of Ireland, Neil Donnelly, Group Chief Compliance Officer, AIB, Tony Cahalan, Head of Anti-Money Laundering Transformation, Central Bank of Ireland, Seána Cunningham, Director of Enforcement and AML, Central Bank of Ireland and Cathal Ryan, Deputy Commissioner, Data Protection Commission Ireland.
This exciting lineup also included panel discussions on a range of topics including IAF, Ethics, Fintech, AI, Sustainable Finance, Financial Crime Compliance, Data Protection and Diversity and Inclusion.

Compliance Institute Northeast Regional Chapter Launch Event
Compliance Institute were delighted to launch our Northeast Regional Chapter on Friday 1st December with an event in the historic Oriel Centre Dundalk Gaol. The line up of speakers included a panel discussion on Working Remotely from the Northeast, Deirdre Maguire, Manager Cross Border Trade Hub, InterTrade Ireland delivered a speech and there was a second panel discussion on Opportunities in the Northeast. Thank you to everyone for attending and stay tuned for more regional events to be announced in 2024!

Summary Article - Individual Accountability Framework Standards and Guidance
The Central Bank of Ireland launched a three-month consultation, on March 13th, on key aspects of the implementation of the Individual Accountability Framework (IAF) which included the publication of draft regulations and guidance and Consultation Paper 153 which set out how the CBI proposed to implement the IAF. Following on from this consultation, of which the CBI stated that “Industry engagement has been in-dept and constructive”, the CBI has now published their Feedback Statement and has issued both Regulations and Guidance to Firms on the IAF.

Publication of the Data Protection Guide 2024
Compliance Institute's Data Protection & Information Security Working Group has published a Data Protection Guide for 2024 to take account of recent changes and updates in Data Protection legislation.
This Data Protection Guide aims to provide members with relevant information and practical guidance on the key provisions of the law in a straightforward and easy to read format. It is based on the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Protection Act 2018 and guidance available at the date of publication.

Professional Diploma in Sustainable Finance for Compliance Professionals is the first programme of its kind globally and is the result of an enterprise-driven collaboration commissioned by Sustainable Finance Skillnet in partnership with IFS Skillnet and the Compliance Institute.
The Diploma is delivered by the Compliance Institute's education partner, IOB, a recognised college of UCD. The Diploma forms part of the continuing effort to address the talent gap in sustainable finance and build Ireland’s capacity as a global leader in sustainable finance.
The semester commences in Spring 2024 and the closing date for registration for this programme is 26 January 2024.

Professional Certificate in Data Protection is provided by Compliance Institute's education partner, IOB, a recognised college of UCD. This programme is a 10 ECTS award at level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications was designed in consultation with the office of the Data Protection Commissioner. It provides Data Protection Officers, Compliance Officers and those working in data related roles with the expert knowledge of data protection and is the only accredited qualification at this level.
The semester commences in Spring 2024 and the closing date for registration for this programme is 26 January 2024.

Professional Certificate in Financial Crime Prevention is provided by Compliance Institute’s education partner, IOB a recognised college of UCD.
This programme is a 10 ECTS award at level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications was designed in consultation with the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation and the Suspicious Transactions Unit in the Office of the Revenue Commissioners. It was designed to equip Money Laundering Reporting Officers (MLROs) and others who specialise in this area with the specialist skills and competence to address these reputational and compliance risks and is the only accredited qualification at this level. Participants will learn through an applied approach, utilising both case studies and experienced guest speakers.
The semester commences in Spring 2024 and the closing date for registration for this programme is 26 January 2024.
