Overview

Join us in conjunction with the D&I Committee to celebrate international day of disabled persons. We’ll be marking the day with a discussion facilitated by speakers with lived experiences of disability from both an employee and employer perspective and using this day to foster awareness, forge progress, and promote education in the compliance community. As well as celebrating success, we will also highlight some issues of inequality.

Speakers

Cathy Farragher, Head of Compliance at Specialist Risk Europe, member of Diversity & Inclusion Committee

Bachelor of Civil Law, University College Galway  (BCL), Diploma in Compliance, UCD, (LCI), Certified Data Protection Officer, UCD (CDPO) and Professional Certificate in Conduct Risk, Culture and Operational Risk Management, U.C.D.

Cathy is a corporate solicitor and Head of Compliance for a wholesale Insurance Broker and MGA, Specialist Risk Europe. Cathy joined Specialist Risk Europe in June 22 and is responsible for Compliance and Risk within the EEA jurisdiction.  Prior to joining Specialist Risk Europe, Cathy worked as a Compliance Manager in IPB Insurance.  Cathy has over a decade of compliance experience primarily in the insurance and banking industries.  Cathy has gained significant experience in financial services particularly in the areas of governance & policy development, consumer protection, data protection, conduct risk and risk management generally.  

Cathy is an active member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee at the Compliance Institute. Cathy will speak about the personal growth she has made as a parent of a child with a disability and some of the challenges she has faced whilst being a working parent of  a child with additional needs.

John trained as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young and qualified in January 2020. John's experience spans professional services, banking, aircraft leasing, software as a service (SaaS), and most recently healthcare. John is an inclusion advocate and has a track record of supporting causes that have led to a more candid conversation about being different in the workplace. John was featured on the cover of the February March 2023 edition of Accountancy Ireland, a bi-monthly publication from The Chartered Accountants of Ireland. John has been a member of the Chartered Accountants Ireland Diversity and Inclusion Committee since 2020.

Andrea Clarkson

Andrea is an experienced HR Leader who has worked in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion space since 2018, with a particular focus in the technology industry. Andrea has recently joined a large cloud based software supplier where she will be leading the Diversity and Belonging Strategy for EMEA and APAC. Prior to this Andrea spent 9 years with Google where accessibility is core to their mission in a variety of Management and Diversity roles.
